At the time of Independence in 1947, Income Tax Act, 1922, was in existence which was levied in Part A and Part C states.
Kota was then a part of Bundi State which was Part B state and Income Tax was not applicable on us.
In 1950, Income Tax was levied on Part B States, through Part B Income Tax Concession Order.
Inspired by the ideology to have a common platform for all those who practise in taxation laws,
and to enable them to share the benefits of their learning, experience and knowledge,
13 eminent professionals from the fields of Taxation conceived the idea of establishing a body for tax practitioners.
The idea of the Tax Bar Association, Kota was given life under the able Presidency of Shri M. H. Ansari in the year 1952.

To spread education in matters relating to tax laws, other laws and accountancy.
As enshrined in the Constitution of the Federation its can briefly be stated as:
To provide an effective forum for the discussion of matters pertaining to tax laws, other laws, accountancy and their administration, for the collection, dissemination of information relating thereto, for the development of better understanding and co-operation amongst the members, tax administration, taxpayers and all others concerned.
To strive and work for independence of Quasi-Judicial Authorities, Appellate Authorities, the Settlement Commissions, Tribunals, Authority for Advance Ruling, Courts, or other similar Authorities;
To make representations, file petitions and appear before the Tax Authorities, Tribunal and Courts in the matters of public interest and cases of importance to professionals and taxpayers in general;
To design and arrange activities to enhance the image of the profession in the society;
To carry out activities to develop and promote high ethical standards for the professionals.
To promote and encourage friendly feelings, fraternity, unity and co-operation amongst the members and to inculcate feelings of brotherhood in them;
The members of the TBA, Kota include Advocates, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, Cost and Management Accountants and Tax Practitioners, practicing Direct and Indirect Taxes, from Kota. Its members enjoy a strong bond of fellowship leading to fraternal brotherhood amongst professionals.
The Organisation functions through an Apex Committee containing 6 Office Beareres, 4 Study Circle Chairmen and 35-40 Executive Members.
The Organisation’s website at www.tbakota.com is an informative source for the members. The website is regularly updated by a team of dedicated professionals. The articles, presentations and other study materials are updated at regular intervals on our website and accessible to anyone free of charge.
The Organisation has been making Representations to focus the grievances of trade, industry and professionals. Whether it was implementation of VAT in 2006 or introduction of Budget each year or it was implementation of GST in 2017, It regularly sends suggestions regarding the same. Many of the suggestions and the recommendations are accepted. Representations are made to the Central and State Governments and higher tax administration for redressal of grievances and simplification of tax laws.
The Organisation organizes Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Study Circle Meetings to update its members on all aspects of Direct and Indirect Taxation. More than 3-4 Full day Seminars, Workshops and many Study Circle Meetings are organised every year. The aim is to cultivate a strong bond of fraternity amongst the members.
